The United States highlighted on Wednesday that India’s close relationship with Russia positions it uniquely to persuade President Vladimir Putin to end the ongoing war in Ukraine. This statement coincided with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s conclusion of his two-day visit to Moscow, where he and Putin showcased their strong rapport.
White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre emphasized the importance of New Delhi’s role in fostering peace. She stated, “India is a strategic partner with whom we engage in full and frank dialogue, including their relationship with Russia. We believe it’s crucial for all countries, including India, to support efforts aimed at achieving a lasting and just peace in Ukraine.”
These remarks followed PM Modi’s commitment to the global community that India is dedicated to peace and willing to assist in any possible way to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
