About 45,000 people in a central North Carolina county, US, remained without electricity on Sunday afternoon after two power substations were damaged by gunfire in what officials are investigating as a criminal act.
Responding to the ongoing outages across Moore County, officials announced a state of emergency that included a curfew from 9 pm on Sunday to 5 am on Monday. County schools will also be closed on Monday, according to a report by the Associated Press (AP).
State Senator Tom McInnis cited below-freezing temperatures and dark roads for the need for the curfew. Furthermore, officials said the power could be out until as late as Thursday.
