UPSC is set to revamp its exam system with new technology to combat cheating and fraud.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) plans to overhaul its exam system using advanced digital technologies to address recent issues of cheating and fraud. The upgrades will include Aadhaar-based fingerprint authentication and facial recognition for candidates. Additionally, the system will incorporate AI-driven CCTV surveillance and QR code scanning of e-admit cards to prevent fraud and impersonation.

The UPSC conducts 14 exams annually, including the Civil Services Examination (CSE) and other recruitment tests for top government positions. To support these technological enhancements, the UPSC has issued a tender seeking bids from public sector undertakings (PSUs) for providing these technology services.

According to the tender, the bidding entities must be profit-making organizations with an average annual turnover of at least Rs 100 crore from examination-related projects over the past three financial years. The tender documents specify that details such as the exam schedule, venues, and candidate numbers will be shared with the technology provider two to three weeks before the exams.

This move follows recent criticism from the Supreme Court regarding lapses in the conduct of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2024, highlighting the need for improved examination processes.
