The Union Home Minister will deliver the opening address at the inaugural session of the G20 conference on crime and security, scheduled to take place in Gurugram, Haryana on July 13. Attendees from Jammu and Kashmir will include Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) RK Goyal, and Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh. Representatives from various Central Ministries, organizations, and agencies will also be present. The conference, spanning two days, will feature six technical sessions. Additionally, there will be exhibitions showcasing national and international products and services offered by organizations and industries in the ICT space.
The conference will conclude on July 14 with a closing session, during which Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw will deliver a speech. Titled ‘G20 Conference on Crime and Security in the Age of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), Artificial Intelligence, and Metaverse,’ the event will bring together over 900 participants from member countries, nine special invitee countries, international bodies, as well as technology leaders and domain experts from India and around the world.
During the conference, the Home Minister will inaugurate the proceedings on July 13 and launch ‘cyber volunteer’ squads from seven prominent educational institutions in India. These volunteers will focus on generating cyber awareness, identifying and reporting harmful content, and providing technical assistance to enhance cyber safety in society. The Home Minister will also inaugurate an exhibition and unveil the conference medallion.
The Ministry of Home Affairs prioritizes the establishment of a cyber-safe India, with the guidance of the Union Home Minister and under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The conference aims to foster a global partnership in building a secure cyberspace and addressing cyber security concerns. Discussions will focus on cyber security measures and combating cybercrime in the context of emerging technologies such as NFT, AI, and Metaverse. The significance of cyber security on a global scale, considering its economic and geopolitical implications, will be emphasized.
The G20 forum’s increased emphasis on cyber security can contribute positively to safeguarding critical information infrastructure and digital platforms. The conference will facilitate the exchange of ideas, knowledge sharing, and networking opportunities among participants from around the world. Renowned cyber experts, as well as guest speakers representing various sectors including law, academia, training institutions, finance, fintech, social media, information technology, cyber forensics, regulatory bodies, start-ups, OTT service providers, e-commerce companies, and others will actively participate in the conference.
