U19 winner Shafali Verma pumps up Richa Ghosh before T20 World Cup 2023: Time to win senior World Cup title

After leading the Indian team to glory in the inaugural edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup, 19-year-old Shafali Verma has set her sights on the upcoming senior Women’s T20 World Cup to be played in South Africa from February 10 to 26.

After winning the title last Sunday by beating England in the final at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom, Shafali and her teammates attended a felicitation ceremony at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.The legendary Sachin Tendulkar gave a motivational speech and the Indian women’s team was presented with a cheque of INR 5 crore.

After attending the event that took place before the Indian men’s third and final T20I against New Zealand, the Indian women’s team left for South Africa.

Before leaving for the mega event, Shafali and her U19 teammate Richa Ghosh were asked about their emotions and feelings after lifting the World Cup a week ago. That’s when Shafali told Richa about winning the senior World Cup.

“Ab senior World Cup title jeetna hai, Richa (Now it’s time to win the senior World Cup title, Richa),” Shafali was quoted as saying to The Times of India while putting her arms around Richa.
