Two terrorists killed on LoC in Nowshera sector

Two heavily armed terrorists were killed in an encounter with the security forces along the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district late last night.
An incident of firing was also reported from Digwar sector in Poonch district tonight but there were no further details.

A gunfight erupted in the Laam area of the Nowshera sector on the night of September 8, as Army troops, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt by terrorists from across the border. Acting on intelligence inputs received since August 30, the Army intensified surveillance and patrols along potential infiltration routes.

The encounter began around 7:30 p.m. when surveillance teams spotted suspicious movements. An intense exchange of fire ensued throughout the night, with the Army deploying UAVs, night cameras, and other surveillance tools to track the terrorists. By the morning of September 9, two terrorists were neutralized, and a search operation recovered a significant cache of weapons, including AK-47s, an M-4 rifle with a sight, and a pistol.

The operation underscored the effective coordination between the Army, police, and intelligence agencies in addressing such threats. Search operations continue to ensure the area is fully secured, with the Army remaining vigilant to prevent future infiltration attempts.
