Two Militants absconding from police custody in Baramulla, accused of grenade attack on liquor shop

Two accused, who were taken into custody from Baramulla police station at the time of Sehri in the morning, have absconded. Efforts are being made to arrest the accused by registering a case under relevant sections.

A case of absconding of two Militants from police custody in Baramulla, North Kashmir has come to light. A search operation is being conducted to nab the Militants. Security has been increased at the main square-intersections in Baramulla. Investigation is being done by putting additional blocks.

Militants namely Maroof Nazir and Shahid Showkat were arrested on May 19 last year. Weapons were also recovered from both during the arrest. Both the Militants are accused of grenade attack on liquor shop in Baramulla.

Baramulla District Police Media Cell informed that two accused who were taken into custody from Baramulla Police Station during Sehri this morning have absconded. Efforts are being made to arrest the accused by registering a case under relevant sections.

 

When did the grenade attack happen?

On 17 May 2022, terrorists hurled a grenade targeting a liquor shop in Diwan Bagh, Baramulla. Four employees were injured when a grenade exploded inside the shop, in which one died during treatment. All the personnel were residents of Jammu division.

Within 48 hours of the attack, the police busted Lashkar-e-Taiba and TRF while solving the mystery. Police arrested one OGW along with four terrorists in this case.

5 pistols, 23 grenades and other explosive materials were recovered from their possession. Today, Wednesday, two accused of this attack have absconded from Baramulla police station, who are being searched.
