Joe Benarroch, the executive overseeing business operations at Twitter, recently addressed employees in an email, urging them to prioritize security and avoid any breaches or leaks of internal information related to Twitter. Benarroch emphasized that such actions would result in consequences for the responsible individuals. Interestingly, he himself uploaded the complete email on his Twitter account after it was leaked to the press. Zoe Schiffer, the Managing Editor of Platformer, shared details of Benarroch’s message on her Twitter handle.
In the email, Benarroch, a former NBC executive, stressed the importance of safeguarding confidential information and stated that it is an obligation that all Twitter employees must take seriously. He also provided specific tips to prevent leaks, which included:
- Sharing information only with those who need to know.
- Setting all channels, email lists, documents, and sheets to “private” to ensure restricted access.
- Managing meeting invite lists carefully and monitoring attendees of virtual meetings.
- Reporting any suspicions of staff members leaking confidential information through the “go/insiderticket” link.
- Reporting any external inquiries seeking confidential information using the same link.
- Contacting insiderthreat@twitter.com to request guidance or schedule training for teams on this matter.
