Two month long District Level Training cum Orientation Programme on “Holistic Agriculture Development Plan” begins at Sheikh-ul-Alam Hall Budgam.
The event was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, S F Hamid.
On the occasion, DC Budgam assured full support from District Administration in implementing this visionary scheme launched by Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
The DC said, the schemes related to agriculture and allied sectors are welfare oriented schemes and stressed that benefits of the scheme should reach all eligible and deserving farmers across the district.
He said, Imparting training to the budding farmers is of pivotal importance for District administration.
The DC further said, we need to Increase agricultural productivity but with sustainable approach, as “Sustainable agriculture helps the farmers to be innovative and employ recycling methods, along with increased productivity”.
At the outset, he said that, Nodal officers to be designated at the block level for overall coordination and for imparting training to farmers at block level. He said , there are already village level coordination committee which are to be headed by NTs and monitored by concerned Tehsildar’s.
DC Budgam said, the basic crux of holistic development plan is increase in productivity, increase in income of farmer, along with sustainable agriculture.
He said, Farm mechanisation, High density seeds with subsided rates are to be provided to farmers.
He requested farmer community for usage of modern technology, High density seeds with concept of sustainable agriculture So, that there is zero degradation of agricultural land.
Such awareness programme’s are beneficial for the agrarian economy to get themselves boosted in the long run, DC Budgam added.
On the occasion, Dr. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, Director Extension, SKUAST Kashmir was also present.
Dr. Makhdoomi gave a detailed account of this training programme and outlined various benefits of this project for the upliftment of farming community and development of entrepreneurship in J&K UT.
The training programme was attended by District Heads, Resource Persons, Gazetted and non-Gazetted (Technical) staff of Agriculture and Allied Departments.
The main aim of these trainings is capacity building of field functionaries in order to improve socio-economic condition of farmers of Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and growth of Agriculture Sector of UT from current 2.02 to 11% said , Chief agriculture officer Budgam.
The programme is being jointly organised by District administration Budgam in collaboration with Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Department Budgam and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (K V K) Budgam.
The programme will conclude on 10th of April 2023,and 29 such orientation programmes shall be conducted for effective training of District Level Staff for efficient implementation of Rs. 5000 Crores worth projects under Holistic Agriculture Development Plan.
