Tourists have been evacuated who were stranded after snowfall in Gulmarg: Waseem Raja
The Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Development Authority, Gulmarg on Sunday claimed that they have safely evacuated the tourists stranded in the tourist destination Gulmarg after heavy snowfall last night.
Talking to the media, CEO TDA Gulmarg, Waseem Raja said, “Many tourists and students were stranded after snowfall occurred here in Gulmarg last night. I would like to commend our staff, local administration and police who till late night continued the rescue operation for the stranded tourists”.
“I want to laud the efforts of IISM and security forces because with their aid we made sure that no tourist face any discomfort and sleep in their vehicle. We have been doing snow clearance operation and I also would like to thank SDM sir and his team for their efforts”, he said.
“Some tourists who came unprepared we have tried to help them so they face any inconvenience here during this unschedule snowfall. We are also in touch with the family of the tourist who lost his life yesterday and his autopsy has been conducted and we will try to help them as best we can”. he added.
