On Thursday, a young child in the South Kashmir district of Shopian tragically lost his life after drowning in a water canal in his hamlet of Zawoora.
An official said that the victim, identified as two-year-old Aqib Ahmad Dar, fell into the water canal in Zawoora village.
Despite being rushed to the hospital in critical condition, he succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, the police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
