One of J&K’s popular Mansar Lake is stinking nowadays and there are thousands of fish that have been found dead floating in parts of the lake.
This incident has worried local people who considered the fishes as divine.
The local Wildlife Department officials are actively indulged in the daily extraction of the dead fishes and are burying them at safe places keeping in view mind the religious feeling of the local residents.
The Fisheries Department have said that the fish died by swallowing hailstones during the rains.
Amit Sharma, a local man has told media that the fish in Mansar lake died by consuming hailstones amidst rains recently and they didn’t passed away due to some poisonous substance.
