Upholding the tradition of Indian culture, Dr. Uttam Chand Pathak, a distinguished scholar from Jammu and Kashmir, has been enhancing the Chudamani Sanskrit Institute in Basohli city, advancing the sacred thread ceremony (Yajnopavita Sanskar) each year with great enthusiasm.
In this ceremony, 12 young boys initiated into the Gurukul, along with a total of 24 students, revered the venerable Shastri Ji as their guru, following his footsteps, and undertook the Brahmacharya vow along with the sacred thread, under the guidance of the chief trustee of the Gurukul, Shakti Pathak ji. He emphasized the significance of the sixteen rites in our ancient culture, stating that through these rites, one attains the path of righteousness and divinity. Scriptures state, ‘By birth one is known as a Brahmin, through the rites, one becomes a twice-born, and by studying the Vedas, one attains the characteristics of a learned Brahmin.’ Hence, by observing these rites, one achieves the status of a learned person, capable of performing all virtuous deeds. Among these rites, the Yajnopavita ceremony holds great importance, as without it, one cannot receive initiation from a guru or acquire knowledge. Following the principles outlined in the scriptures, the Yajnopavita ceremony, conducted flawlessly through recitations by Vedic scholars, under the guidance of Pt Mohinder Upadhyaya and the leadership of Principal Dr. Soumya Ranjan Mahapatra, was successfully concluded.
In the end, the Brahmacharis toured the entire city and returned to the Gurukul. The event was attended by all members of the institution, Acharyas Anmol, Sahil, Rajesh, Anil Kumar, adorned with supreme knowledge, Acharya Ramarani, revered Lalita Ji, all staff members of the institution, parents of the students, citizens of Vishwasthali Nagar, and members of the media and hundreds of local people.
