Panun Kashmir President Ajay Charungu issued a statement to this effect on Wednesday. This statement has come at a time when many leaders of Jammu and Kashmir, including former Chief Ministers — National Conference’s Omar Abdullah and PDP’s Mehbooba Mufti, have expressed concern against this campaign.

Mufti recently accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of turning Jammu and Kashmir into Afghanistan by “demolishing the homes of poverty and downtrodden sections”, while Abdullah said he was facing encroachment of government land by people. We are against going but the administration should follow the proper legal process.

So far, 10 lakh kanal land has been made encroachment free.
In a circular issued on January 9, Commissioner Secretary, Revenue Department, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri had directed all deputy commissioners to remove 100 percent encroachment from all government lands, including Roshni and Kachcharai, by the end of January. Since then, more than 10 lakh kanals of land in Jammu and Kashmir have been made free from encroachment.
