The NHM has appointed a state nodal officer for patient safety in Jammu and Kashmir.

Dr Jitender Mehta, State Nodal Officer for Quality Assurance, has been appointed as the State Nodal Officer for Patient Safety in Jammu and Kashmir by the National Health Mission, with the approval of the Administrative Department of Health and Medical Education.

The NHM has issued an order designating the Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura as the “Centre of Excellence for Patient Safety” in J&K.

The NHM has also renamed State Quality Assurance Committee as State Quality Assurance and Patient Safety Committee, District Quality Assurance Committee as District Quality Assurance and Patient Safety Committee, State Quality Assurance Unit as State Quality Assurance and Patient Safety Unit, District Quality Assurance Unit as District Quality Assurance and Patient Safety Unit and District Hospital Quality Team as District Hospital Quality Assurance and Patient Safety Team.

Similarly, the Deputy CMO/District Nodal Officer for quality assurance has been designated as District Nodal Officer for Quality Assurance and Patient Safety.
