Shubman Gill, on January 18, 2023 became the youngest men’s cricketer to hit a double century in the ODI format. At the age of 23 years and 132 days, Gill broke the record of compatriot Ishan Kishan, who recorded the same feat just a month back.

Ishan was 24 years and 145 days at that time. This was the first ODI double-century since July 2018, almost four and a half years away when Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman hit 210* against Zimbabwe.

Easy to say that it is not a small feat to hit a double century. In fact, many have tried but failed in ODI cricket, until Sachin Tendulkar at the ripe age of almost 37 years. It was fitting that one of the greatest batters of all time, and certainly the greatest batter of his era would be the first one to reach the feat – in front of his home crowd in Gwalior.
