Heavy rain in Shimla: According to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sikhu, as many as nine persons were killed when a Shiv temple in Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla collapsed owing to heavy rain on Monday. Dozens of people are said to be trapped in a landslip at the Summer Hill temple, and police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) officials are conducting rescue operations.
On the occasion of Sawan, the devotees had assembled to pray. When the event occurred, over 50 people had gathered, according to an official.
The local administration is diligently working to clear the debris in order to rescue individuals who may still be trapped, the chief minister said.
“Distressing news has emerged from Shimla, where the “Shiv Mandir” at Summer Hill collapsed due to heavy rain.” So far, nine bodies have been recovered. “The local administration is working tirelessly to clear the debris so that individuals who may still be trapped can be rescued,” the chief minister wrote in a tweet.
“It has been raining continuously in Himachal Pradesh for the last 48 hours.” The Beas River’s water level has risen, and some individuals have perished as a result of rain-related mishaps. After the Shiv temple fell, nine bodies were discovered. CM said.
