IPL 2023: Bowling coach Sunil Joshi said that the Punjab Kings should try and be more disciplined in their bowling going into their last league match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. On Wednesday, May 17, PBKS lost to the Delhi Capitals (DC) by 15 runs at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.

After opting to field, their bowlers faltered as DC racked up a huge score of 213 for the loss of two wickets. Rilee Rossouw was severe in his stroke-play as he took DC past the 200-run mark.

PBKS’ decision to bowl Harpreet Brar in the 20th over also backfired as he leaked 23 runs. Rossouw hit him for two sixes and a four before Phil Salt finished the over with a boundary off the last ball.

“I think we bowled very well actually. the wicket was true if you look at the scores from both sides. Execution was missing. In the T20 format, you try your luck and you do not execute and it is a matter of one over. So, that was the difference.

“Rahul (Chahar) and Brar bowled well, but the third over went for 23 runs. If you look back, the fast bowlers also gave away 17-18 runs,” Joshi was quoted as saying in the post-match press conference.

Joshi said that PBKS also found themselves behind the 8-ball in their run-chase. Although Liam Livingstone scored 94 runs, his efforts could take PBKS to 198 for eight.
