PM Modi TO Greece President: Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the Greek President Katerina N. Sakellaropoulou for her well wishes on India’s successful Moon mission and said that, The success of Chandrayaan-3 is not only the victory of India, it is the triumph of the entire humankind.
“The findings of the data collected by the Chandrayaan-3 mission will help the entire scientific fraternity and humankind,” Modi said.
“The success of Chandrayaan-3 is not only the victory of India, it is the triumph of the entire humankind,” he said.
The Indian diaspora had assembled in large numbers outside Prime Minister Modi’s hotel in Athens earlier, beating drums and chanting “Vande Mataram.” They gave him a rousing welcome.
Many of them took photographs, signed autographs, and shook hands with the prime minister while holding the tricolour.
To further solidify their relationship, Modi will meet privately with Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the prime minister of Greece.
In the last 40 years, this is the first trip a prime minister from India has made to Greece.
Modi travelled to South Africa to attend the 15th BRICS Summit before arriving in the Greek capital.
After his arrival at the ancient city, Modi laid a wreath at the ‘Tomb of the Unknown Soldier’ in Athens.
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a war memorial located in Syntagma Square in Athens, in front of the Old Royal Palace. It is a cenotaph dedicated to the Greek soldiers killed during various wars.
Thereafter, he was accorded a Ceremonial Guard of Honour.
The latest high-level visit to Greece was made by the then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in September 1983.
Civilizational relationships between India and Greece have become stronger in recent years as a result of collaboration in fields including maritime transportation, defence, trade and investments, and interpersonal relations.
