Stable Fuel Prices Continue Across Cities; Minor Variations Seen in Some Locations

There has been a slight variation in fuel prices across several cities on Saturday, continuing the trend observed in recent weeks. However, as reported by Goodreturns, oil marketing companies (OMCs) have kept fuel rates mostly unchanged.

According to the usual practice, the windfall profit tax on petroleum, which was implemented on July 1, is revised every fortnight. Except for a few cities, customers are required to pay the same amount as the previous day. Since May 21 of the previous year, petrol and diesel prices have remained relatively stable, with no nationwide revisions.

Therefore, on Tuesday, customers in Delhi can expect to pay ₹96.72 for a liter of petrol and ₹89.62 for the same quantity of diesel, while those in Mumbai will pay ₹106.31 and ₹94.27, respectively. Here are the rates for other major cities:

Cities Petrol Diesel
Bengaluru 101.94 87.89
Bhubaneswar 103.47 95.03
Chennai 102.63 94.24
Jaipur 108.56 93.80
Kolkata 106.03 92.76
Hyderabad 109.66 97.82
Noida 96.92 90.08
Gurugram 97.01 89.88
Trivandrum 109.62 98.42

OMCs, including Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum, determine petrol and diesel prices based on a daily review. The prices are influenced by the global price of crude oil.

Fuel prices can vary across states due to several factors. One significant factor is the inclusion of additional charges such as Value Added Tax (VAT), freight charges, and local taxes, which can differ from state to state. Each state has its own tax structure and transportation costs, leading to variations in the final retail prices of petrol and diesel. These regional variations contribute to the differences observed in fuel prices across states. The daily price announcements are made at 6 am each day, whether the prices are revised or remain unchanged.
