The famous flea market or popularly known as Sunday Market located in the heart of Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital Srinagar remained abuzz with huge rush of shoppers as thousands thronged the market from across the Kashmir Valley.
Hundreds of vendors had erected their stalls from Amira Kadal to Tourist Reception Centre (TRC), displaying varieties of items including winter clothes, kitchen utensils, furnishing, crockery, blankets, winter shoes and other items.
The market had remained shut since 2020 till early this year due to restrictions imposed by the authorities in view of Covid-19. However, with the reopening of the market the vendors and other shopkeepers have heaved a sigh of relief as their business was badly affected due to Covid-19.
On Sunday thousands of shoppers from across the Valley were seen visiting the market to purchase their desired items. The hustle and bustle in the market has brought a shine in the adjoining areas as well.
Basharat Ahmad from Fateh Kadal area of the city told KNS that he is a regular shopper at the market and usually spends Sundays buying goods here.
“I have been visiting the market from many years. As winter has set in the market provides choices to customers at cheaper and satisfactory rates that attracts shoppers like me to visit the market,” he said.
He aded the Sunday market is the best option for those who remain busy throughout the week and are unable visit markets on week days.
Meanwhile, commuters also faced tough times in traveling to their destinations via Lal Chowk and Residency Road as large number of people thronged the flea market.
