A snow avalanche hit the Sonamarg area in Ganderbal district on Friday, causing the temporary blockage of the crucial Srinagar-Leh highway.
The avalanche descended near the Hung area, resulting in the burial of several vehicles under snow. Prompt response from the authorities, including the Police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local residents, and other agencies, ensued to conduct rescue operations.
According to official sources, the avalanche directly impacted two vehicles, primarily occupied by tourists. However, swift action from the rescue teams led to the successful evacuation of all passengers, ensuring their safety.
