Snapchat users faced a series of glitches involving the messaging app’s AI chatbot, My AI, on Tuesday night. Despite being introduced to global users earlier this year, the bot experienced technical issues that left many users perplexed and concerned.

Typically, My AI serves as a friendly companion, engaging users in conversations and providing suggestions for activities and Snapchat Lenses.

However, on this particular evening, My AI displayed unusual behavior. Users noticed that the chatbot was unresponsive and had posted a puzzling Story on its profile. Instead of its usual interactive engagement, the chatbot responded to all chat messages with a repetitive default reply: “Sorry, I encountered a technical issue ?”

This unexpected occurrence raised alarms within Snapchat’s user community. The incident extended to My AI’s Story, which users reported seeing briefly before it was removed. Although Mashable, a media outlet, couldn’t directly view the Story, video snippets shared on social media platforms provided glimpses of the evanescent content. The Story depicted a monotonous beige expanse with a light-colored upper portion suggesting a potential wall and ceiling, sparking various speculations about its meaning.

Upon inquiry, a spokesperson from Snap acknowledged the My AI outage and assured users that the technical glitch had been addressed.

However, the resolution process wasn’t entirely seamless, as some users continued to receive an automated message from My AI, indicating its preoccupation: “Hey, I’m a bit busy at the moment. Can we catch up later? ?”

Despite intermittent responses, many users later confirmed that My AI had regained full functionality, enabling them to inquire about the enigmatic Story it had shared.

In a surprising turn of events, when we questioned My AI about the Story, it appeared reserved and denied any involvement, asserting its inability to publish Stories.
