Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday said that it has arrested six gamblers and seized stake money and playing cards from their possession in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

A Police spokesperson said, “Acting on a specific information regarding gambling activities in the orchards of Shalbooni Pattan, a police party headed by IC PP Mirgund under the supervision of SDPO Pattan raided the specific spot and apprehended 06 gamblers & recovered stake money of ₹ 8700/- & playing cards from their possession.”

“They have been identified as Abdul Majeed Rather son of Gh Hassan resident of Badibugh Magam, Muzaffar Hussain Beigh son of Ghulam Hussain resident of Gund Khawaja Qasim, Abdul Majeed Lone son of Abdul Ahad, Ghulam Ahmad Ganie son of Abdul Khaliq, Habibullah Khanday son of Ghulam Qadir all residents of Hanjiwera Bala & Nazir Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Ishaq resident of Kanterbugh. They have been shifted to PS Pattan where they remain in custody”, he said.

He said that accordingly, a case FIR under relevant sections of law stands registered at PS Pattan and investigation has been initiated.
