‘Tis the season of the film festivals! Bollywood celebrities have been busy attending various film festivals across the globe. After B-Town celebs attended the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah, a few of them will be a part of the 28th Kolkata International Film Festival. The 28th edition of KIFF will commence on December 15 and conclude on December 22, 2022. Over the period of 8 days, many films and documentaries from across the world will be screened.
AMITABH BACHCHAN, SRK TO BE GUESTS OF HONOUR
Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan will be inaugurating the prestigious film festival. On the other hand, Big B and Shah Rukh Khan will be the guests of honour at KIFF. A total of 1078 films from 57 countries had applied, of which only 183 films from 42 countries have been selected for the film festival. Around 215 shows will be screened across 10 venues.
Big B and SRK are the primary guests of the inauguration, along with Jaya Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Kumar Sanu, Mahesh Bhatt and Shatrguhan Singha. The inaugural film of the 28th Kolkata Film Festival is going to be Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Abhimaan.
ABOUT KIFF
For those unaware, the 28th edition of the Kolkata Film Festival will take place nearly 8 months after the previous edition of the fest, which took place earlier this year. The annual event was not held on-ground in 2020 and 2021 because of the strict restrictions imposed during the Covid-19 pandemic.
