Several jewellery shops inspected in Jammu

The Sales and Tax department in Jammu on Thursday inspected several jewellery shops in Jammu ahead of Diwali festival.
According to the report, the officials of Sales and Tax department today paid surprise visits to jewellery shops in Jammu’s Jain bazar area and inspected them to make sure that traders are making proper bills on sold jewellery items or not and advised customers to take bills on buying ornaments and also said the same to jewellers.

“We are conducting this surprise visit to make sure that exchequer and state don’t suffer any loss of tax. We would like to appeal to traders to make proper bills on sold ornaments and also want to appeal to customers to take bills before leaving the shop”, said Ms Pooja Rasgotra, an official of Sales and Tax department.
“We will take action against rule violators as per J&K GST act. I also appeal local people to avoid rumor mongering”, she added.
