J&K: Soldier dies, nine wounded in road accident

In yet another deadly accident several persons today sustained critical injuries in a road mishap in Lakhanpur on Jammu-Pathankot National highway.

According to the report,  the mishap happened when a passenger bus (UP22AT1412) brutally head on collided with a truck-trailer (RJ1GA8855) on Jammu-Pathankot National highway in Lakhanpur, leaving 9 injured.

“I’m Mohd Qasim from Thanamandi of Rajouri. I don’t know about the mishap the man whose legs are fractured told me that the bus was rammed into the truck”, A victim of the incident, Mr Mohd Qasim said.

“The bus was full of passengers and I was standing he was sitting on the seat”, he said lying on the bed in GMC Kathua.

“I went unconscious and after half an hour when I regained my senses I got to know that my waist is critically injured”, he said.

The identities of all the eight injured persons are yet to be ascertain.

Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed as many as 76,942 road accidents between 2010 and 2022 in which 12,429 people were killed, while 1,04,983 individuals were injured, the latest data released by the traffic police on 2nd March this year said.
