Service on Gulmarg Gondola Ropeway Reopens Following Temporary Precautionary Closure

Srinagar-  According to officials on Friday, the Gulmarg Gondola ropeway service in the resort town in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir was reopened after being temporarily suspended as a precaution after a terror attack claimed the lives of four people, including two soldiers.

The attack on Thursday killed two Army porters and two soldiers, while injuring a soldier and another porter. A force vehicle was attacked by terrorists six kilometers from the popular tourist destination of Gulmarg.

After being closed for a few hours in the morning after Thursday’s terror attack, the ropeway service has now resumed, according to officials.
They added that the closure was a preventative step to guarantee the security of both visitors and employees.

They added that following the completion of security assessments and procedures, the gondola, which is well-known for drawing tourists all year round with its breathtaking views and distinctive mountain experiences, began operating again.

The world’s second-longest and second-highest cable car service is the Gulmarg Gondola. People are transported to and from the Kongdoori mountain, which is 13,976 feet high and close to the Apharwat peak, via a two-stage lift.

The first stage travels to Kongdoori station in the bowl-shaped Kongdoori Valley from the 8,694-foot Gulmarg resort. Visitors and skiers ascend 13,058 feet on the Kongdoori mountain via the second stage of the ropeway.
