Benchmark stock market indices came under pressure amid increased volatility, but ended marginally higher due to strong quarterly performance updates by realty and auto stocks.
The S&P BSE Sensex settled 13.54 points higher at 59,846.51, while the NSE Nifty50 was up 0.14 per cent at 17,624.05. Broader markets performed slightly better than the benchmark indices despite the volatility.Nifty Realty emerged as the top performer among sectoral indices, rising 4.29 per cent. Auto, IT and metal also ended higher, while banks and financial services stocks crumbled under pressure.
