The senior women’s football team of Jammu and Kashmir experienced a heavy defeat of 5-0 against Football Delhi (Delhi Soccer Association) in their first match of the 27th Senior Women’s National Football Championship 2022-23 held on Wednesday.
Taking place at Pant Stadium in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, the match between J&K senior women’s football team and Football Delhi (Delhi Soccer Association) saw the latter take the lead in the 18th minute. The Delhi team then scored two more goals in the 50th and 55th minute, respectively, before adding a fourth in the 85th minute. The fifth and final goal was scored in the added time of the 90+4 minute.
Head Coach Fayaz Ahmad Shah will likely have been disappointed with the Jammu and Kashmir women’s team’s second-half performance, which resulted in them conceding four goals. Their next match will be against hosts Chhattisgarh on April 1 at Pant Stadium.
In a separate match, the debutant Ladakh team suffered a 4-0 defeat to Jharkhand.
