The Punjab Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday, in a joint operation, recovered over 500 gms of suspected heroin that is believed to have been smuggled in from across the border near the Tarn Taran border.
The joint operation of the Punjab Police and the BSF was launched based on reliable intelligence input about the suspected presence of heroin in the region.
Notably, a similar collaborative effort by the two agencies in May resulted in the recovery of a consignment that included arms and ammunition, over 3 kgs of heroin and over 3 lakh rupees. The location of the search was Rajoke, another village in Tarn Taran district.
Another search last month in the same district, prompted by information received by the BSF intelligence wing, led to the recovery of a China-made drone; it was the second such drone related incident after authorities found another drone on June 22 in a field near Noorwala village.
