Due to fresh snowfall and severe cold, a foreign tourist developed illness and informed the administration for evacuation. Police personnel immediately rescued the patient and admitted him at Community Health Centre, Padum, Zanskar.
Sub Divisional Magistrate Zanskar, Sonam Dorjay along with Station House Officer Zanskar, Dorjay Gyalson visited CHC Padum to enquire about the health of the foreigner. The SDM also directed the doctors to look after the patient.
The SDM also directed the Mechanical Department to clear snow on adjoining routes.
SDM Zanskar appealed to the general public of Zanskar to restrict their movement, especially in avalanche-prone areas and follow the advisory issued by the MeT Department.
