Saudi Arabia begins talks with Syria to resume consular services

Syria and Saudi Arabia have agreed to reopen the embassies; preparations are being made to open the embassies after Eid al-Fitr.

According to details, Saudi Arab and Syria have agreed to restore diplomatic relations, the British news agency reported that Syria and Saudi Arab have agreed to reopen the embassy.

The news agency said that after the agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran, relations with Syria increased, after which preparations are being made to open embassies from both sides after Eid al-Fitr.

The news agency further said that the decision to open the embassy was taken after discussions between the intelligence officers of the parties.

On the other hand, Saudi State TV has confirmed that talks were on with the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to open the embassy.

Diplomatic relations between Riyadh and Damascus were severed for more than a decade, and the US-US coalition of Saudi Arabia has been opposed to the resumption of relations with Syria on behalf of regional countries.

A US State Department spokeswoman said there was no change in US policy and would not encourage other countries to restore relations with Syria.
