Samsung aims to broaden its range of health-oriented wearables by introducing its inaugural smart ring, yet to be named but anticipated to adopt the Galaxy branding akin to its other devices. The South Korean tech giant provided a glimpse of the ring during last month’s Galaxy S24 launch event and intends to fully reveal the device at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2024 in Barcelona, as reported by sources.

Despite limited information available before the Barcelona showcase, Samsung’s statement on Sunday assured that the Galaxy Ring would offer enhanced, personalised, and seamless experiences, leveraging advancements in artificial intelligence. The announcement also hinted at additional health-tracking features when the ring is paired with Samsung’s existing Galaxy Watch series.

The ring’s form factor introduces intriguing possibilities for health monitoring, distinguishing itself from larger wearables such as watches and fitness bands. The device is anticipated to measure blood flow for tracking heart rate, respiration, and other vital signs. It might also include ECG functionality to identify irregular heart rhythms, similar to the latest models from Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch.
