October 25, Srinagar: “Delay of even a moment in granting statehood is a sin against the people of Jammu & Kashmir,” stated Sajad Gani Lone, president of the Peoples Conference, on Friday.
According to the news, Lone questioned the delay in granting Jammu & Kashmir statehood in a lengthy post on X.
“The union government must act quickly on certain issues, regardless of the political disagreements among us. It is a sin against the people of J and K to even consider delaying the granting of statehood. Our right to statehood is not a charity that the union government will consider. Why should they postpone it? Lone wrote, “Why did they remove it in the first place?
According to Lone, the Supreme Court did not address the issue of J&K State’s relegation to a Union Territory.
Additionally, I would like to ask the Supreme Court to address one question that was left unanswered in their decision to dismiss the statehood petition. Was it legal for a state to be demoted to UT or was it something else entirely? Why didn’t they respond to this query? We still don’t have a state, but they didn’t support relegation in case it became the norm,” Lone stated.
Lone added that the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir ought to be a regular participant in all security-related meetings.
“The CM of J and K should be an integral part of all security-related meetings until we have a state.” When it comes to security strategy, local input is essential. The people of J and K have cast a large number of votes for whoever the CM is. Furthermore, the government shouldn’t be excluded from important issues because of its UT status. The CM ought to participate in all discussions. “The entire electoral process would be humiliated if the chief minister were excluded,” he stated. Omar Abdullah was also charged by Lone with being a glorified BJP cheerleader.
As well as an uninvited piece of advice for our CM. I wish you hadn’t gone so far as to accuse everyone of conspiring with the BJP. That self-righteous drift, that idea of untouchability, and now a lauded cheerleader. He remarked, “That is a complete comedown.”
As everyone knows, a CM who is elected must collaborate with the center. They must go meet with other ministers or the prime minister. However, there is a distinction between cheerleading and constitutional obligations,” he continued.
