Russian Missile Strike: On Monday night, Russian missiles twice targeted Pokrovsk in central Ukraine, leaving eight people dead, including five civilians.
Forty minutes after the first missile struck the town near the frontline that was under Ukraine’s control, the governor said. Both first responders were killed and injured.
Among those dead were two rescuers and a member of the military. Although 31 people were hurt, including a member of the local municipal council, most of them were civilians, according to Ukrainian officials, including nine police officers and one member of the military.

Pokrovsk resident Kateryna, 58, was at home when she heard the first bomb and believed that she had been spared from the attack. The chief of the Ukrainian presidential administration, Andriy Yermak, claimed two additional civilians killed by Russian airstrikes in the Kharkiv region’s Kruhliakivka village.
