Republic Day 2023 celebrated in Zanskar

Amid severe cold, the 74th Republic Day was celebrated today with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at Sports Stadium in Zanskar Sub Division.

SDM Zanskar, Sonam Dorjay unfurled the tricolour and took salute at the march past in which contingents of Ladakh Police, ex-serviceman, NCC Cadets, students of Govt. Higher Secondary School Padum, Lamdon Model High School Ufti and Model Public School participated.

While addressing the gathering, the SDM appreciated BRO and NHIDCL for keeping Shinkula, Penzila road open throughout the year.

He said that fresh vegetables are available in Zanskar which have come from Himachal Pradesh via Shinkula. He also informed the gathering that the transmission line and National Highway (NH-301) will be completed next year.

The function was attended by Padma Shri Awardee, Tsultrim Chonjor, Head of the Departments and huge gathering of public. A colorful cultural program was also presented by the students.

Later, appreciation certificates were distributed among various societies and individuals for their outstanding performances in the Sub Division. Prizes were also given to participants of the march past and cultural programs.
