Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is foraying into genetic mapping in a bid to make it more affordable to India’s consumer market, reported Bloomberg news.
The energy-to-telecom conglomerate is planning to roll out a comprehensive genome sequencing kit within weeks, added the report.
This was confirmed by Ramesh Hariharan, chief executive officer of Strand Life Sciences Pvt, a Bengaluru-based firm which has developed the product. RIL acquired the firm in 2021 and now owns about 80 per cent of it.
