‘Reach Delhi airport in 20 minutes’: Nitin Gadkari says new expressway opens soon

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the newly constructed Urban Extension Road (UER) 2 will bring down travel time to Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) from Kundli on the Delhi-Haryana border to 20 minutes instead of two hours. The UER 2 is expected to be thrown open to the public in the next two to three months, according to Gadkari.

During an interaction with the Indian community in Czech Republic’s Prague, Gadkari said, “The (UER 2) will bring travel time to IGI T3 airport to 20 minutes (from Kundli border in Delhi) instead of two hours. We have made another tunnel road that passes under the airstrip to T3 of IGI airport.”

“While coming to Delhi, after Panipat, there is a peripheral ring road. After that, a new ring road called UER 2 has been built in Delhi. It will open in the next two to three months. After the construction of this road, you will be able to reach T3 airport directly in just 20 minutes instead of two hours. We have also built a large tunnel inside the road at the Shiv Murti junction, which connects T3 from below the airstrip,” he said.
