The Martyrs Police Premier League T-20 Cricket tournament organised by Ganderbal Police under the banner of Civic Action Program concluded today at Sheikh-ul-Aalam Stadium Kangan.
In the finals, Kullan Royal Strikers played against Rayil Cricket Club (RCC) with RCC winning the match by 5 wickets.
Yasir Arfat was declared Man of the Match and Man of the Tournament for his outstanding performance in the tournament.
SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar was the Chief Guest.
The tournament witnessed a huge response and 40 Cricket Teams of the district desired to participate, but finally 16 teams were shortlisted through the Lucky Draw Series.
The selected playing teams thanked Ganderbal Police for organising the event.
At the Final Ceremony, SSP Ganderbal appreciated all the teams for taking part in various sports events held by Police.
He stressed that the young and budding players should allow their minds to explore their thoughts and imagination through the medium of sports. Further, Borkar asked the players to show good sportsmanship, discipline as well as good behaviour towards each other.
Commandant CRPF 118Bn S.S.Yadav, 2IC CRPF 118 Bn Chouhan, SDPO Kangan Muzaffar Jan, Dy.SP DAR DPL Ganderbal Nazir Ahmad, Major Deepak 34RR Assam Rifles, AC 118/Bn CRPF Naresh Yadav and Shri Gagan Singh witnessed the match.
The Tournament was supervised by SDPO Kangan Muzaffar Jan and assisted by Kangan cricket Board.
Borkar-IPS distributed trophies, sports kits, uniforms and cash rewards to both the winner and runner-up teams. He wished them good luck in the future.
Talking to reporters, the SSP said that the cricket tournament was organised under a community program and every year police organise such programmes.
“The main motive behind organising such programs is, our youth from Ganderbal, should come to the mainstream and should refrain from bad habits and other harmful activities,” he added.
