Insecurities, jealousy and peer pressure revealed
In a candid interview with The Film Companion, Bollywood actor Raveena Tandon opened up about the challenges her children face as star kids, shedding light on the insecurities and jealousies they navigate in school and among friends.
Raveena, a mother to daughters Rasha, Pooja, Chhaya, and son Ranbir, acknowledged that the glamorized perception of celebrity life doesn’t reveal the struggles her children encounter. Despite their mother’s fame, she revealed that sometimes being a star kid can lead to tough circumstances, including peer group pressures.
Reflecting on her own experiences as a star kid, Raveena recalled a school incident where her teacher’s inquiry about her father, renowned filmmaker Ravi Tandon, led to hostility from her classmates. The actor highlighted the dual nature of being a star kid, with the perks of recognition also accompanied by challenges and misconceptions.
When asked about her children’s friends being star-struck, Raveena shared that since her kids and their friends have grown up around her, star-struck moments are rare. However, she pointed out that this familiarity might sometimes be a drawback for her children, who have to contend with the less glamorous aspects of their lives.
Reflecting on the bygone era of Bollywood, Raveena emphasized the difference in communication and technology, recalling times when co-stars shared personal details due to a lack of smartphones and luxury vans on set. She highlighted the camaraderie and shared experiences that resulted from being left to their own devices after shoots.
As Raveena Tandon prepares for her upcoming web series “Karmma Calling,” her insights into the nuanced challenges of being a celebrity parent provide a glimpse into the less-glamorous side of star-studded lives.
