On Saturday, the Punjab Police announced that they have found four kilograms of heroin in a subsequent investigation related to the dismantled cross-border drug smuggling operation from two days ago.

The police had previously apprehended an individual and disrupted a cross-border drug trafficking network on Thursday.

The arrested person, Shinder Singh, hailing from Mehatpur in Jalandhar, was taken into custody, and he was found to have six kilograms of heroin and Rs 1.5 lakh in cash in his possession.

Authorities explained that Singh and his associates had recently acquired a significant shipment of heroin that had been illicitly brought into Indian territory by smugglers and organizations based in Pakistan, utilizing the river route in Ferozepur.

Following the latest seizure on Saturday, the cumulative amount of recovered heroin in this case has now reached a total of 10 kilograms, as per the police statement.

Gaurav Yadav, the Director General of Police (DGP) for Punjab, tweeted, “In a subsequent recovery, Counter Intelligence has retrieved an additional 4 kilograms of heroin from the cross-border drug smuggling network.” The DGP further stated that various teams from the Punjab Police are actively working to apprehend the remaining suspects in order to dismantle the drug distribution network.
