Punjab Extends Stamp Duty Exemption Deadline to April 30th

The Punjab government has extended the deadline to avail 2.25 per cent stamp duty exemption on registration of land and property to April 30.

The deadline to avail the 2.25% stamp duty exemption on land and property registration in Punjab has been extended to April 30, due to the heavy rush witnessed at sub-registrar offices and complaints of non-availability of slots. The exemption was originally available until March 31.

The usual stamp duty charges on registration of property and land in Punjab range from 6 to 8 percent. However, to provide relief to the people, the government had earlier reduced the stamp duty and fee by 2.25 percent from March 1 to March 31. The deadline has now been extended to April 30.

Individuals who choose to register their land or property during the extended deadline period until April 30 will receive an exemption from an additional 1 per cent stamp duty, 1 per cent fee, and 0.25 per cent special fee.
