Prison authorities fitted ‘GPS tracker’ on feet of accused after bail

The Bahu Fort police authorities in Jammu city yesterday released an accused from the jail on bail by fitting a GPS tracker on his feet, so that he doesn’t get away from the reach of the law.

The accused identified as Shakir Ahmed Naikoo son of Mohammad Shafi Naikoo of Harpura, Durapora, Tehsil Zainapora, Shopian was arrested in case FIR number 56/2022 under sections 18, 20, 23, 38, 39 UAPA Act and 3, 4, 5 ESA registered at Police Station Bahu Fort.

He was released on the interim bail by the cops by fitting GPS tracker on his feet.

The prison officials have said that they have done this to make sure that the accused don’t run away and can be tracked at all times following a string of criminal offences under the UAPA.
