Principal Secretary to the Administration, Information Technology Department, UT Ladakh Sanjeev Khirwar chaired a meeting to review the implementation status of 4G Saturation Project in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
General Manager, BSNL Leh, Kuldeep Kumar informed the chair that an additional 22 villages/hamlets have been included in the project and a total of 245 Base Transceiver Station (BTS) sites have been identified to cover 379 villages/hamlets under the 4G Saturation Project across the expanse of Ladakh.
Regarding allotment of Government land for setting up the required BTSs as surveyed by BSNL, the Principal Secretary directed the District Administration to request the LAHDCs and fast track the process and allot the land as required by BSNL, on Free of Cost (FOC) basis.
The Principal Secretary informed that the department has proposed to make required amendments in the existing Ladakh Communication and Connectivity Rules, 2020 (LCCIR-20) to empower the waiver off the Schedule of Rates (SOR), a one-time fee and rental charge levied on Telecom Service providers for establishment of infrastructure for projects of this nature on due examination of merits of such cases.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Leh Shabir Hussain and other officials of the UT Department, Ladakh.
