New Delhi, Sep 21: The Quad has emerged as a key grouping to work for peace, progress, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday as he left for the US on a three-day visit.
During his visit, Modi will participate in the annual Quad summit in Wilmington, Delaware, address the ‘Summit of the Future’ at the UN General Assembly in New York, and engage in a roundtable with CEOs from leading American technology firms. The Quad summit, hosted by President Joe Biden in his hometown of Wilmington, is scheduled for Saturday.
In a departure statement, Modi expressed his anticipation for joining President Biden, Prime Minister Albanese, and Prime Minister Kishida at the summit, highlighting the forum’s role as a key alliance of like-minded nations committed to peace, progress, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
He will also hold a bilateral meeting with President Biden, emphasizing that their discussions will focus on strengthening the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership for the benefit of both nations and the global community.
Following the summit, Modi will head to New York for an Indian community event in Long Island on September 22 and to address the Summit of the Future at the UN General Assembly the next day. He expressed eagerness to engage with the Indian diaspora and influential American business leaders, who play a vital role in the partnership between the largest and oldest democracies.
Modi sees the Summit of the Future as an opportunity for the global community to outline a path forward for humanity. He aims to represent the views of one-sixth of the world’s population, emphasizing their significant stake in a peaceful and secure future.
