01 Feb (GulistanNewsTv): Ahead of the budget speech, senior opposition leaders—including prominent figures from the INDIA bloc—held a high-level meeting on Tuesday evening. The gathering, reportedly attended by key lawmakers such as Rahul Gandhi, Pramod Tiwari, Gaurav Gogoi, Sharad Pawar, and others, was aimed at formulating a unified protest strategy. Their central grievance revolved around the perception that the budget favored only a select few states—primarily the strongest allies of the ruling alliance—while neglecting the developmental needs of several other regions. Critics argued that the budget allocations reinforced existing regional imbalances and betrayed the principles of equitable governance.
During the budget speech, as Finance Minister Sitharaman explained that it was “logistically unfeasible” to mention every state, discontent reached a boiling point. Several opposition MPs, in a clear act of defiance, initiated a walkout from the Lok Sabha. Although the walkout was brief—with many returning to their seats shortly after—the gesture was laden with symbolic significance. It was intended to send a strong message that the budget’s perceived bias was unacceptable and that the opposition would continue to challenge fiscal policies that they believe marginalize certain regions. The walkout, combined with vocal protests both inside and outside the Parliament premises, highlighted the heightened tensions in the political landscape. GulistanNewsTv
