Police in Baramulla apprehend two notorious drug peddlers with contraband

In its ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in society, the Police have apprehended two drug peddlers in Baramulla and seized a significant quantity of contraband from them. According to a police spokesperson, a team from Police Station Tangmarg, led by SHO PS Tangmarg, intercepted Abdul Ahad Wagay at a checkpoint in Shrai Tangmarg. Upon searching him, they recovered 11.5 kilograms of Poppy Straw & Poppy Powder. Wagay was arrested and taken into custody at PS Tangmarg, where a case has been registered against him under relevant sections of the law.

During interrogation, Wagay revealed the identity of his accomplice, Mohammad Ashraf Wani of Kitchimatpora, who was subsequently arrested. Upon his arrest, 900 grams of Poppy Powder were seized from Wani. He too has been taken to PS Tangmarg for further legal proceedings. The police spokesperson emphasized the importance of community involvement in reporting crimes such as drug peddling, urging the public to contact local law enforcement or dial 112 if they witness any illegal activities. The community’s cooperation is vital in the police’s efforts to eliminate the drug menace from society, with a commitment to take stringent action against criminals in accordance with the law.
