A head constable in Seoni district of Madhya pradesh was shot by a group of miscreants, said police.
The incident occurred on Thursday night when a team of police officers were chasing a group of miscreants. The police said the miscreants were fleeing a SUV. When they saw the police approaching them they changed their direction towards Seoni town, said a police officer.
“Rakesh Thakur, head constable was leading the team. When he spotted the miscreants, one of them shot him straight in the chest,” he added.
Despite being rushed to the hospital , Thakur succumbed to his injuries. Three of the accused were present at the scene while one of them managed to flee. The deceased constable will be laid to rest in his ancestral village.
The arrested individuals, Pradyumn Vaishnav, Gulshan Das Vaishnav and Jhanak singh khanna have been taken in custody. The police has seized a revolver, 20 cartridges and a SUV from them.
