Police arrests notorious fraudster in Srinagar; Urges general public not to fall prey to fraudsters and imposters

October 26: Srinagar police arrested a gangster for allegedly duping a person of a large sum of money.
The general public is advised not to fall into his deceitful trap.

Based on the information given by one Rinchen Angchuk son of Konga Paldan residing in Nan Leh Ladakh, Srinagar Police arrested the accused for cheating the complainant for Rs. 1448829 ( 14. 5 lakhs) on the pretext of petrol pump boycott. Leh-Manali Highway, using his fake influence, cheated the victim.

The accused is Mirza Sajjad Hossein Bey, son of Mirza Ali Mohdbey, resident of Khushi Poreh, HMT.

FIR No. 117/24 has been registered at Parimpura Police Station and the accused has been arrested under relevant sections of the Act.

During the initial investigation, it was found that the accused is a criminal who has been involved in many fraud cases across the valley including:
FIR No. 38/18 under Section 380, 109, 120 RPC PS Baramula,
FIR No . 23/13 under section 419, 420, 468, 471 RPC of PS Zadibal and FIR no.

In addition to these cases, the defendant has filed several complaints under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act in various courts. In addition, he has several bailable warrants issued to him by various courts.

During the further investigation, it was found that the conduct of the defendant was to present himself as a person of great influence, he was often associated with political associations and took part in the electoral process in order to get protection. Using this pretext, he tricks people into thinking he has strong connections, and by gaining the trust of the victims, he swindles large sums of money.

The police urge the public not to fall for fraudsters and fraudsters posing as legitimate people. Citizens are advised to check the credit of these people before spending money on themselves and to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or call 112.
